Friday 1st MayYouth Club - A range of activities with a healthy theme will take place at Southside Youth Centre, Kelston View, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. This is for 13 to 19 year-olds and costs 40p. Saturday 2nd MayFlower Show - Look out for the Healthy Living Stall at the Bath Flower Show held in Victoria Park. You will find it next to the display mounted by Bath City Farm. Two Tunnels - A guided bike ride or walk, following the route of the former Somerset and Dorset railway from Bath to Midford. Meet at The Royal Oak Pub near the Windsor Bridge at 10am to finish at The Hope and Anchor Pub, Midford, at about 1pm. A bus back to Bath is available outside The Hope and Anchor at 3 minutes past the hour. Tuesday 5th MayGet Active - A free drop-in session with fun activities, to encourage you to become more active with support from a fitness professional. You can also receive a heath check. It is from 10am to 12 noon at The Spot, Twerton Infant School. Healthy Lunchbox - An event open to all parents of children who attend First Steps Nursery. Writer and chef, Sian Blunos, will be sharing her ideas on healthy eating for young children at First Steps, Dominion Road, from 10am to 12 noon. Stay and Play - Music and movement for parents, toddlers and babies, with healthy snacks. The session is free of charge and open to all parents and pre-school children. It is from 10am to 12 noon at First Steps, Dominion Road. Holiday at Home - A programme of activities for adults and older people at Southdown Methodist Centre, The Hollow, from 10am to 4.30pm. In the morning there will be a Bodyshop demo and games. Lunch is at 12 noon. The afternoon session will include a beetle drive and singing. The cost is £5 including lunch. Open Day - In conjunction with Healthy Living Week, the FOTEC Learning Centre will be open for people aged over 19 to find out about fun learning activities and short courses organised by the Community Learning Service. From 10am to 7pm at FOTEC, 80 Twerton High Street. Stop Smoking - Come to the Stop Smoking Clinic at Rose Cottage, Twerton High Street, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Also, the Rose Cottage Cafe will be open from 10am to 2pm. Soup Tasting - Sample some delicious healthy soup made from seasonal vegetables, free of charge at the TimeBank, Twerton High Street, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. Health Walk - Suitable for walkers who like a brisk pace and more challenging routes. The walk will last no more than an hour and will have a front and back marker. Bring good walking shoes, water, and sun or rain protection. Meet at 2.15pm at The White Horse Pub, Shophouse Road, to fill in an outdoor health questionnaire. The walk starts at 2.30pm. Community Cafe - Try a healthy cooked lunch or snack available at the Rose Cottage Community Cafe, Twerton High Street, from 10am to 2pm. Disability Sports - A chance for members of the public (disabled and able-bodied) to try boccia and New Age curling. Five-a-side Tournament - A five-a-side football tournament and lunchtime barbecue organised by Southside Youth Centre, Bath Foyer and Bath City FC. The venue is still to be confirmed. Wear warm clothes, walking shoes, and bring a torch. The terrain is steep in places with unsurfaced paths, and by the end of the walk it will be dark. Meet at 8.30pm by the kissing gate at Pennyquick Park, Newton Road. |
