Healthy Living Week 2010


Thursday 27th May

Health Stalls - 9.30am to 1.30pm. At Twerton Market there will be stalls and free activities connected with health, as well as information and health checks.

Lunch Boxes - 9.30am to 12 noon. Healthy lunch box ideas and samples to taste for parents and visitors at First Steps Children's Centre, Woodhouse Road. The display will last all week.

Tea Dance - 10am to 12 noon. Practice your ballroom steps at this tea dance to be held at Threeways School, 180 Frome Road, Odd Down. No previous experience is necessary and transport may be available if needed. Telephone 01225 838070.

Healthy Cafe - 10am to 2pm. There will be a special healthy lunch menu, free tasters and recipe cards at the Rose Cottage Cafe, Twerton High Street.

Healthy Lunch - 11.45am. A healthy two course lunch at Southdown Methodist Centre, The Hollow. The meal will cost £3. To book your place telephone 01761 412304.

Healthy Eating - 2pm. A talk by a dietician and a chance to taste some different and interesting foods, at Avondown Sheltered Housing, The Hollow.

Friday 28th May

Lunch Boxes - 9.30am to 12 noon. Healthy lunch box ideas and samples to taste, for parents and visitors at First Steps Children's Centre, Woodhouse Road.

Gym Tots - 10am to 12 noon. Toddler gymnastics for members of the Stay and Play group at First Steps Annexe, Dominion Road.

Health for Carers - 12 noon to 4pm. Carers can call into The Spot at Twerton Infant School. Free health checks will be available and a pharmacist will give advice on medication. There will also be a healthy cooking demo and a walking activity. Transport is available if needed. To book a place telephone 07909 920175.

Saturday 29th May

Two Tunnels Walk - 11.30am to 2pm. Meet at The Royal Oak Pub on the Lower Bristol Road. The route to Midford is about four miles and includes steep hills. There are buses from Midford to Bath for the return journey if needed. Wear walking shoes and bring water. Just turn up or book in advance on 01225 396835 to receive a free goodie bag.

Monday 31st May

Healthy Cafe - 11.30am to 2pm. There will be a special healthy lunch menu, free tasters and recipe cards at the Rose Cottage Cafe, Twerton High Street.

Tuesday 1st June

Lunch Boxes - 9.30am to 12 noon. Ideas and samples to taste, for parents and visitors at First Steps Children's Centre, Woodhouse Road.

Recycling Games - 10.30am. A fun session for parents and young children in the Stay and Play group at First Steps Annexe, Dominion Road.

Cooking - 11.30am to 1.30pm. An opportunity to practice and improve your cookery skills in a small group. Learn to make simple healthy meals, using fresh, locally grown produce at the Time Bank, Twerton High Street. There is no charge but you do need to book a place on 01225 442813.

Bike Maintenance - 2pm to 4pm. Learn to maintain your bike at this free workshop for up to six people, at the Time Bank, Twerton High Street. Bring your own bike. Booking is essential - telephone 01225 442813.

Wednesday 2nd June

Thursday 3rd June

Celebration - 10am to 2pm. The end of Healthy Living Week finishes with a celebration at Bath City Farm. A day of free fun activities including a children's obstacle course, fruit bug making, nature trails, recycling games, Play Ranger activities and a gardening demo with seedlings to take away.
