Young people complete project for Twerton RNIDA team of young people have created a sensory walk for residents of the RNID Centre at Watery Lane, Twerton. The project was officially opened today by Bath MP Don Foster, who said that their efforts will bring years of pleasure to residents at the RNID.
The walk consists of a path with a bark chipping surface, which winds its way through a wooded area of the RNID Centre. There are interesting wooden sculptures to examine along the way. The work, which was all done with hand tools, had to be completed in about one week. The project was part of a 12 week development course for young people provided by Hedley Hall, Denmark Road. The teenagers had to plan and raise funds for the project before undertaking the physical work. A special wooden post bearing the names of the team members was unveiled, and the RNID awarded each young person with a certificate thanking them for their efforts. Joe, 20/04/11 Got a point of view? The farm ran the easter egg hunt and allowed people to see the chickens hatching in their incubator, while Bath Area Play Project arranged other activities for children and families. The big attraction was a colourful inflatable slide.
The barbecue was supplied with meat donated by Tesco at Englishcombe Lane and the Co-op and Jones the Butcher at Mount Road. So the barbecue was made free for the children. Some of the children helped to prepare the food. Bath Area Play Project are interested in setting up some community play forums with local parents to increase play opportunities in this area.
