Healthy stuff at Twerton MarketThis year's Healthy Living Week began at Twerton Market on Thursday, with a cluster of stalls giving out advice on health related topics. You could try a selection of healthy foods like raw carrot and cucumber which were very nice, as well as rice cakes which were flavourless.
There was a stall about how to recycle organic waste in compost bins and another one where you could get your blood pressure tested. The above right-hand photo shows a lady named Gladys doing the blood pressure test. Have a look at the programme for the rest of the Healthy Living Week activities here. On 3rd June there will be a big Healthy Living Week celebration at Bath City Farm. Joe, 27/05/10 Got a point of view? Put it on the Forum here. Scrapstore comes to TwertonOn Monday the community room at Bath City Football Club was full of all kinds off colourful and interesting odds and ends. The Scrapstore comes to Twerton once a year bringing lots of low cost creative materials for use in crafts. The scrap materials are manufacturers' left-overs which are delivered to the Bristol Scrapstore or collected for free. The Scrapstore attracts parents, childminders, school groups and children's centres etc who use the materials to do craftwork with children.
In the above left-hand photo, from left to right, is Play Ranger Samantha Rowlands, Scrapstore worker Lucy Ward and Play Development Officer Claire Sands. In the right-hand photo is Scrapstore worker Alice doing a craft workshop with parents and children, using objects that were once going to be plastic bubble gum containers. If you missed the Scrapstore at Twerton, there is another one coming to Timsbury on 12th July. For more information call 0117 90822090. Joe, 24/05/10 Got a point of view? Put it on the Forum here.
