September 2011Grand opening of the Southside CentreThe Grand Opening of the Southside Youth Centre took place on Saturday, with a celebratory cake cutting ceremony led by the Council's Vice Chairman Rob Appleyard. As the ceremony moved indoors, youthwork professionals Jenny Williams and Tracy Pike were presented with beautiful bouquets of flowers in appreciation of all their hard work in making the centre a success.
The new Southside Centre with all it's facilities has great potential to support all kinds of projects suited to young people, children, the elderly and everyone else in the community. Its community cafe is up and running and ready for people to discover it. Now it is up to the Twerton and Whiteway residents to engage with the centre and help shape its future. Bits and pieces, 12th SeptemberChildren's clubResidents have said that the Southside Centre at Kelston View / Poolemead Road, should be available for all children and not just young people aged 13 upwards. So efforts have been made to set up a children's club in the centre. The Youth Service can support a children's club if volunteers come forward and if residents say what ages the club should cater for, and what days it should run on etc. Phone 01225 396980 or email youth_service@bathnes.gov.uk Give and TakeThere will be a Give and Take Day at Bath City Football Club, Twerton, on Saturday 17th September from 10am to 2pm.
